deb. – Peel, Pit, Pulp

Sometimes dreamy, sometimes demanding, sometimes playful, sometimes stirring - deb. is a versatile band led by singer and composer Debora Monfregola (CH/I), telling personal stories about people, relationships, and strange moments of self-discovery. With both acoustic and electronic sounds, their music moves between pop, jazz, bold rhythmic structures, and folky storytelling.

With Peel, Pit, Pulp, deb. takes a bold step forward, showcasing both greater depth and spirit of experimentation. Some of the songs were written during a songwriting course with British musician Fini Bearman in London, while others took shape through collaborative writing sessions with the band during a residency in Glarus, Switzerland.

Layer by layer, deb. peels back on Peel, Pit, Pulp, reaching the core of relationships, childhood memories, and origins. The lyrics are raw and honest, revealing the contradictions and complexities of how people interact with each other and themselves.

In collaboration with producer Daniel Somaroo, the band takes a step closer to pop on this EP, while staying true to the jazzy roots that make their music so unique. With an equal gender balance and a lineup of close friends, the collective’s versatility shapes its distinctive sound.
