Barbicop – Palms

From the rusty scraps of phone-made GarageBand demos, Maddie Sandri aka Barbicop explores the bubble gum ocean of catchy hyperpop built with awkward drumbeats, over saturated sounds, and autotune. Despite limited musical instruments and tools at her disposal, Barbicop constantly evolves her outlook and approach to creating music. Although the project is now based in Vevey, Switzerland, it was founded in the musky punk scene of Berlin. Barbicop emerges from influential and culturally vibrant surroundings, which she drags into her sound with a poppy and electronic twist. In her new single "Palms", Barbicop explores the feeling of being brutally consumed by a romantic partner for the simple satisfaction of their benign pleasures. "Taste me then save me for later". This feeling of drainage is contrasted by the uplifting and naive synth melodies. The artist envelops her sound by a self-made 3D animated visual world.
