The composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter had long since cemented his reputation as one of the most versatile talents in music today, having worked with everyone from Arctic Monkeys to Depeche Mode via Blur and Geese. While his band with Jas Shaw, Simian Mobile Disco, and the supergroup he drummed for, The Last Shadow Puppets, were both on extended hiatus, he had recently acted as musical lieutenant on Beth Gibbons’ Lives Outgrowndebut album, and played in her live band across Europe on a high profile tour.
