Noah Parks – Fucking Up

Noah Parks wants to let you know he's around and still kicking. "Fucking It Up," his first single since last September's debut album, comes with a warning label in the form of a quote: "This song a hymn for people who crash into the only tree in a wide open field." It opens on mundane acts of irresponsibility, like knowingly letting his plants die, before escalating into heavier territory like deep regret over not knowing the people closest to him well enough, and screaming at walls once it's too late to fix it. "Fucking It Up" cements Parks as a cheeky, pointed storyteller, and marks his debut as a producer, as he flexes a personal mix of indie, folk, and pop influences. It's built on a heavy, deep groove, jangly, playful guitars, and a chorus that takes on the character of a live crowd — everyone screaming their lungs out for a little catharsis over their own losses and fuckups.
